AFL: Fremantle will hunting their ninth consecutive victory - which would equal the greatest-ever winning run in club history - when they come up against Essendon at the MCG.

The Dockers tasted defeat against Geelong in round one but have not done so since, and securing another four premiership points would mean they have matched runs from 2015 and 2006 as the club’s best.

The Bombers sit 17th with only one win to show for the season, but have been competitive in patches throughout their campaign.

JL calls in leaders

Intriguingly, Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has called in the club’s leadership group for a chat at half-time.

The Dockers coach surely could not have been too displeased with their first half!

Voss adds another on half-time siren!

Pat Voss is full of confidence now!

The former Essendon forward executed a set shot from deep in the forward pocket for his fourth goal of the term, and again turned to the crowd to celebrate.

Fremantle were brilliant in the first half.

Dudley down

Isaiah Dudely is down on the MCG turf, having been taken in a heavy tackle by Isaiah Dudley.

The small forward was eventually able to walk from the ground under his own power, but looked proppy and has headed down the race.

Voss again!

And just like that, Pat Voss has his third!

The Dockers all but walked the ball from one end of the MCG to another and he was rewarded for a smother with the chance to run in his third goal of the quarter.

Essendon burning chances

Essendon are enjoying a decent spell here, but have been unable to put their ascendancy on the scoreboard.

Heath Chapman was caught with the football and the Bombers were quickly into them, but Kyle Langford did not manage to capitalise.

Treacy receiving treatment

Josh Treacy is currently being attended to by Fremantle’s doctors during a spell on the bench.

We will keep you updated, but the Dockers spearhead does not appear to be too concerned at all.

Voss goes bang, bang!

Pat Voss has kicked another goal, and he’s let the Essendon fans know about it!

As the ball sailed through the major opening, he turned to a sparse MCG crowd and tugged at his guernsey.

Prancing Pony in on the act!

Former Bomber Pat Voss is now in on the act against his former side!

To a cacophony of boos at the MCG, the Prancing Pony - who was delisted by the Bombers in 2023 without having played a game - managed to get a right-foot checkside to work.

Fremantle are well on top here.

FRE 7.5 (47) lead ESS 1.3 (9)

Scerri slots first AFL goal!

Fremantle small forward Chris Scerri has slotted his first goal at AFL level!

While Essendon’s Sam Durham may have felt aggrieved after being penalised with a holding the ball call, the speedy small forward produced a brilliant run-down tackle and thumped his set shot home from beyond the 50-metre arc.

Scerri was recalled to the senior side this week and is playing his fifth AFL game.

Bombers get a rev-up

Essendon coach Brad Scott was clearly not happy with what he saw from his side in the first term.

Scott gave his side a fair rev-up when they came together at the quarter-time break.
