An A1 grand final rematch between Cuballing 1 and Wagin 1 kicked off the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association season on Friday night.

In a sense of deja vu, reigning premiers Wagin 1 were victorious 48-43.

The game was fast paced from the start with Wagin and Cuballing well matched.

Both teams made minimal errors in the first quarter as Wagin took a 12-9 lead thanks to several intercepts by new centre Amelia Nolan.

In the second quarter Wagin brought on their experienced shooter Courtney Webb, which was an effective strategy as they took advantage of Cuballing’s unforced errors to lead 27-18 at half-time.

The move to bring Telisha Kickett into attack for Cuballing in the third quarter evened the contest, as both teams scored the same amount of goals to bring the score to 40-31 heading into the final period.

Cuballing capitalised in the run home when turnovers presented and they outscored Wagin 12-8 with Regina Kickett strong in her return to the Cuballing A1 team.

Wagin, however proved too strong in the end to run out 48-43 winners. In the other A1 games played on Saturday, Pingelly 1 defeated Williams 1 (49-41) and Wickepin 1 were too good for Olympics Gold (44-35).
