More than 350 spectators were treated to a brilliant display of hockey at the annual Upper Great Southern Hockey Association President’s XI and WA State Country men’s game on Saturday evening.
In the fast and action-packed game, WA Country showed their class to prevail 6-0 winners.
Braydon Dalton scored a hat-trick in the win, Regan Blyth netted a brace via drag flicks on penalty corners and former Thundersticks and current Australian indoor player Darren Parkes netted the other goal.
The game had the spectators on the edge of their seats waiting for goals to be scored as they witnessed brilliant attacking play.
Chloe Buzza, the 2021 CBH Women’s Country Championships division 1 fairest-and-best player, also featured in the match.
The State Country players came from Albany, Geraldton and Bunbury and surrounds to take part in the game.
WA State Country was coached by Corey Lets and the President’s XI was coached by Scott Fowler.
Umpires were UGSHA’s Thomas Bairstow and David Lange.
Unfortunately, the national championships have had to be postponed until October this year because of COVID-19.
