UGSCA 2025-26: Old Dogs have too much bite for the Young Guns as Chandrasena’s 66 is key to T20 Slam victory

The Old Dogs were too wily for the Young Guns, defending their 155 all out to win the Upper Great Southern Cricket Association’s T20 Slam at Narrogin’s Clayton Road on Friday night.
The annual contest went the way of the old fellas, who were indebted to Kavindu Chandrasena’s 66 off 44 balls and Byron Blevin’s 47 off 26 as they used up all but their last over to reach 155 all out.
The high-scoring double act had little help, with Joe Dowling the best of the rest with 12, as Lucas Hull led the Young Guns’ bowling with 3-22.
Riley Ford started the response in style but was caught by Scott Langford off Lewis Parsons for 26 to leave Young Guns at 3-42.
Michael Cowcher and Darcy Andrews got them up and running again but Cowcher was bowled by Chandrasena on 22, and Andrews was run out on 29.
Henry Blechynden then took out the Young Guns’ tail, collecting 2-11 at the death to end things at 8-138 and give the Old Dogs a victory by 17 runs.
Chandrasena was the player of the match, taking 1-24 in addition to his 66 runs.
Blechynden, Bailey Parsons and Lucas Parsons each took two wickets, with Blechynden’s 2-11 the pick of the bunch.
