Tragic crash near Pingelly claims lives of two young parents

It is hard for Chelsea Rebecca to put into words how much love she had for father-of-two Braydon Muir-Smith. An explorer who lived in the moment and a father who will be forever young, Mr Muir-Smith, 24, was killed last week alongside another young parent, 22-year-old Kyra Lane. The two Perth friends were travelling to Pingelly in the early hours of Sunday, August 1, when their Subaru Forester rolled off Wickepin-Pingelly Road. Mr Muir-Smith’s partner, Chelsea Rebecca, is the mother of one of his children, 21/2-year-old Aryah. “He just always had love to give and was always putting people before himself, I just get so lost for words when I think of him,” she said. “My heart is literally breaking, my little girl’s calling out for her dad and I can’t even explain to her. Everything I do from that day forward is making sure she knows who her dad was and that he loved her. “I want him to know that he’s so loved and will be missed by everybody.” The couple met about five years ago at a friend’s house and quickly hit it off, going on the first of many bushwalks together. “We were just exploring, you know, running ourselves ragged up a hill,” Ms Rebecca said. “It was something different every time. It was always somewhere new — the possibilities were endless with him.” She said Mr Muir-Smith always put other people before himself. “I would do anything to bring him back, it was not his time, definitely not his time,” she said. “He just wanted to be living his best life, he wanted to adventure, he wanted to travel. “It’s going to be hard, really hard, but I’ve got no choice. I’ve got his baby girl and I’ve got to stay strong for her.” In the aftermath of the crash, tributes also flowed for Ms Lane, who leaves behind four young sons. Ms Lane’s grieving partner Jossua Vulin said she was one of the strongest people he knew. He had been planning to propose to her in the coming months. “It’s heartbreaking how six young children have been left without a parent,” Mr Vulin said “(Kyra) leaves behind four broken-hearted boys that will never see their mum again. “I can't believe how life tests us.”
