A brilliant batting performance by Towns’ Nick Corner and a five-wicket haul from Tom Munns guided their side to an emphatic victory in round six of the Upper Great Southern Cricket Association against Dumbleyung on Saturday. Corner posted an unbeaten 81 before Munns did the damage with the ball to help Towns record back-to-back wins and their third triumph of the A-grade season. Towns batted first and Corner came to the crease at 2-57 and his side fell to more trouble at 5-78 after losing three quick wickets. Munns joined Corner and the pair added 48 runs before Munns was caught for a patient 16. Dumbleyung had Towns at 8-144 but Corner kept going and he lifted his side to a competitive 8-183 from 45 overs. Corner hit seven boundaries in his unbeaten knock and Liam Sweeney added a valuable 37. David Head took 3-29 off 10 overs, including four maidens, and Kalan Joyce claimed 2-21. In reply, Dumbleyung were in trouble from the start and slumped to 5-14 as Sweeney and Munns had outstanding spells with the ball. Dumbleyung made it to 8-44 and despite some late hitting from Ryan Smith were bowled out for just 87. Munns finished with 5-15 off 7.5 overs, Sweeney claimed 2-6 off five overs, and Blake Heil snared 2-14. Williams remain undefeated after a two-wicket win against Wandering, highlighted by a six-wicket haul from Shane Ford. Ford claimed 6-33 from 9.4 overs to help restrict Wandering to 161 despite the best efforts of Bryan Hardie at the top of the order with 80 and Blake Warburton (28). In reply, Lewis Parsons took 6-21 in his nine-over spell. However, Justin Wood blasted 75 and Kim Rintoul added 51 as Williams finished on 8-162 with just over six overs to spare. A superb century from Brett Blechynden guided Pingelly-Noonebin to a commanding 114-run victory over Lake Grace. Blechynden smashed 107 while Luke Kirk added 63 in a 148-run partnership that helped Pingelly-Noonebin post 4-246. Kane Pinney (54) helped Lake Grace move to 4-100, but his side lost their final 6-32 after his departure to be bowled out for 132.
