After being delayed a week because of rain, the Pingelly Junior Tournament went ahead at Pingelly Tennis Club on Saturday, April 1.

The event drew about 30 young players from Narrogin, Kondinin, Cuballing, Brookton, Pingelly and Perth hitting the courts from 8.30am to 4pm.

“The under-10s were really competitive,” club president and juniors coach Rheannon Turton said.

“It was a really good tournament, there were a couple of light showers throughout the day but we were able to keep the games going.

“When you’ve got a court full of brothers and best mates it can get quite entertaining.”

Josie Robertson was the girls 8-and-under champion abd Hannah McKenzie coming in second place.

The boys 8-and-under title went to Darcy Wray with Clancy Quartermaine finishing runner-up.

The girls 10-and-under singles champion was Ella Robertson ahead of runner-up Belle Hodges.

The girls 10-and-under doubles winners were Belle Hodges and Penelope Watts, followed by Ella Robertson and Emma Davis.

Evie Parsons and Holly Lange claimed the girls 13-and-under doubles with no girls 13-and-under singles matches being played.

The boys 10-and-under winner was Tristan Turton, with Matthew Pepper claiming second place after a three-way count back where Pepper narrowly edge out Logan Macnamara.

Zander Wilkie and Noah Wilkie won the boys 10-and-under doubles over Matthew Pepper and Oscar Hardie after another three-way count back decided the runners up.

The 13-and-under boys title went to Zander Wilkie over David Valenta, with Valenta and Evan Hardie taking the doubles honours over Flynn Macnamara and Harry Macamara.
