A pilot has incredibly escaped serious injury in a light plane crash near Narrogin this afternoon. It is understood the plane veered off the runway during landing about 3.10pm at the Narrogin Aerodrome, 10km west of town. Emergency services rushed to the scene where they rescued the man from the wreckage. The plane was upside down near a wire fence in a field, with the pilot trapped inside. The plane was lifted up so he could be freed. The back end of the plane and one of its wings had become detached from the fuselage. The RAC rescue helicopter was dispatched to Narrogin, but it was not required. There were blustery conditions in the Narrogin area at the time of the crash. A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the pilot escaped serious injury and was taken to Narrogin Hospital. It is understood the man, an experienced local pilot, sustained injuries to his feet.
