Olympic Gold and Williams record victories in round two of the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association A1 season
Olympics Gold notched their first win of the new Narrogin and Districts Netball Association A1 season, prevailing over Flames 1 in a hard-fought round two clash on Saturday afternoon.
Flames started strongly after going down in the opening round, as they took an early four-goal lead in the first quarter after exciting passages of play from both teams.
Olympics hit back strongly with Jaelyn Ranieri and Tanya Hart combining well, and despite the best efforts from Flames’ Jessica Daniels and Abby Munns in defence Olympics took the lead in the second quarter.
Forced errors by Flames resulted in turnovers which were successfully converted by a more experienced Olympics team as the game wore on.
Careese Ranieri was strong in defence with her continual hunting for the ball resulting in conversions at the other end.
The mid-court battle was terrific, the match-up between young pair Melita Davey and Amelia Sherry a highlight, both showcasing their determination and talent.
Olympics extended their lead in the third quarter to 17 goals, with Ashtyn Steer and Ranieri dominating in the attacking circle.
The final quarter was an even affair but Olympics were far too strong to win by 18 goals, 53-35.
In the other A1 fixture, Williams 1 hung on in a one-goal thriller against Pingelly 1.
Williams won 47-46 to remain undefeated after two rounds.
