Narrogin man remembered as role model and loving grandfather after fatal crash

A Narrogin man killed in a crash this month has been remembered as a hard worker and role model who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Peter Littlejohn, 61, was driving towards town along the Williams-Kondinin Road about 6.10am on Sunday, January 17, when his Holden Rodeo left the road and struck a tree. Police confirmed he died at the scene, about 16km out of Narrogin. The crash that claimed Mr Littlejohn’s life was the fifth fatal crash in the Great Southern Police District in 2021. Mr Littlejohn’s son, Peter Jr, said his father had four children and eight grandchildren. He said his father was adored by his family and would be deeply missed. A shearer turned farmhand, he had been willing to help anyone. “He was kind, caring and a great dad, and he loved spending time with his grandkids,” Mr Littlejohn said. “He was a great role model and had time for everyone, from all walks of life. “He always had time for people and was always happy to give them support and guidance. “He just wanted to see everyone being their best.” Mr Littlejohn described the day he got the call about his father as one of the saddest days of his life. He said his father was well known in the community from his shearing days and his work on farms. Coming out to Australia from New Zealand as a shearing contractor, his son said his work ethic was one of his many admirable traits. He had loved working in agriculture in his later years. “The agricultural side of his life was very important to him, and you would always find him down the shed,” Mr Littlejohn said. “He was really mechanically minded so was always building motors and tinkering with cars and stuff.”
