Narrogin lights the way for festive competitions
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the shire of Narrogin, with the annual Christmas lights competition starting next week.
Residents are asked to have their display lights turned on during the judging period between 7pm and 9pm from December 14-18 for the Shire’s drive-by judges, with the competition open to all.
“You can dob in a displaythat you think is worthy of a visit by the judges by contacting the Shire and they will post the address on their Facebook page for others to be able to enjoy,’’ Shire president Leigh Ballard said.
“By encouraging neighbours to get out and about, chat with one another and share in the spirit of Christmas, we can build relations that help grow our community.”
Four winners will receive Narrogin Chamber of Commerce vouchers to spend before Christmas.
The first prize is $250, second is $200, and third is $150.
Also this festive season, the Narrogin Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a competition for the best Christmas window display in the CBD.
New NCC chairman Bill O’Neill said a lot of new businesses had started in the town this year.
“It shows that there is confidence in the shoppers of Narrogin and nearby districts buying locally wherever practically possible,” he said. “With the extraordinary year we’ve just had, it would be great for the whole community to get into the Christmas spirit as most of us are staying home this year.”
The winner of the best Christmas window display will receive a $200 voucher.
The vouchers are redeemable for goods or services at any business which is a member of the NCC.
