Narrogin and Districts Netball Association performed strongly at the Great Southern Regional Championships in Albany at the weekend. The annual event involved a three-day tournament, with teams from Narrogin, Esperance, Denmark, Katanning, Kojonup, Ongerup, Narrikup and Albany taking part. The NDNA had four teams in action and their under-18 squad went undefeated through their seven games, defeating Albany Green in the gold medal game to emerge as decisive tournament winners. The impressive outfit won all six of their pool games to finish on top of the standings. In their first pool game, Narrogin 1 emerged as comfortable winners against Narrogin 2, followed by emphatic results against Albany Gold and Esperance, winning both games 37-18. Narrogin 1 then held off Denmark in a thrilling 21-22 contest before taking care of Melville 25-23. In their final pool game, Narrogin held on to record a 28-26 victory over Albany Green to cap a perfect round of qualifying games. First and second place faced off in the grand final, with Narrogin making a statement against Albany Green, trouncing the second-placed squad 30-17 to win the under-18 title. In the senior division one competition, Narrogin won two of their four pool games to finish third on the standings. They finished on a positive note, winning their final game of the tournament against Albany Gold, 60-43. Esperance defeated Ongerup in the grand final, 56-36. In the under 14s division, Narrogin 1 earned a third-place finish in the tournament, defeating Esperance 32-18 in the third-place play-off match. Narrogin 2 faced Katanning in the fifth place play-off contest but went down 19-15.
