Junior sides put it all on the line in Upper Great Southern Hockey Association finals

In the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association upper-school competition, Eagles are the first team through to the decider after a thrilling second semifinal.

Eagles took on Vultures in the top-of-the-table-clash, and at half-time, Vultures led 1-0.

Late in the final quarter Eagles drew level with a great field goal, taking the game into golden goal extra time.

However, with many shots on goal from both teams, neither of them scored and the game then went into the best of five one-on-ones and Eagles prevailed 3-1.

Better players in the win were Ethan Johnson, Kynan Spencer and Stephen Conlan, while Connor Logie, Rohan Annear and Jude Corner were Vultures’ best.

The second game was the Ag School derby between Ag Rangers and Collegians.

In a good battle between the two teams, Ag Rangers ran out winners 2-0 with their best being Marcel Corasaniti, Stockton Shotter and Toby Francis.

Austin Shotter, Colby Wisewould and Ethan Sandwell were Collegians’ best.

In the middle-school competition Cougars and Pumas played a great game of hockey.

Cougars finished 2-1 winners set up by Guillaume Van Der Riet, Beau Flood and George Wright while Ryan Johnson, Riley Ford and Reed Lange were Pumas’ better players. In the second game Woodanilling took on Tigers in another good quality game but Woodanilling had all the answers winning 3-0.

The winners were best served by James Shackley, Jonty Bolto and Zeppelin Greenwold while Tigers/ best were George Kilpatrick, Noah Logie and Regan Hoystead.

The junior presentation commences at 6.20pm tonight.
