A man was airlifted to Perth in serious condition after a truck and car collided on a gravel road near the small Whealtbelt town of Jitarning on Friday. At about 8am, emergency services were called to the crash between a road train and utility on Pyne Road in Jitarning, east of Wickepin. The male driver of the car in his 30s sustained serious injuries in the head-on crash. He was rushed by St John WA ambulance to Wickepin’s town oval. The driver was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital and arrived at about 11.30am. On Friday afternoon he was in a serious but stable condition in the trauma unit. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash. It is understood the car lost control and slid in the gravel into the oncoming truck.
