Four squads all set to bring solid competition in new Narrogin and Districts Netball Association season that starts this weekend

The sound of whistles blowing and feet stomping will return to the courts of Narrogin this weekend, with round one of the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association set to start. The 2020 season will have a reduction in teams, as only four sides are set to play in the four senior grades. Pingelly, Olympics and Williams remain in the A1 competition from last season while Flames will re-join after several years without an A1 side. Cuballing, Wagin and Wickepin will not field a team in A1. In round one reigning premiers Pingelly will start their season against a young Flames side on Saturday while Olympics and Williams will clash on Friday night. NDNA president Lee Conlan said it was great to have netball back despite the reduction in teams. “Everyone is really excited about netball returning, they are very keen,” she said. “Flames have put together an A1 team for the first time in while which is really good to see. “It’s great to have them back, they have a really young group. “I expect the competition to be reasonably strong, I think the standard will be just as good as last season. “We are looking forward to the season ahead. “We have an increase of two teams in the junior’s grades which is a big positive.” Due to COVID-19, there are several spectator restrictions at NDNA games this year. They include no balls being brought inside and spectators are not allowed to enter earlier than 15 minutes before a game and must exit at the competition of the game. All players must bring their own labelled water bottle and spectator limits will be applied. Friday fixtures will be played indoors with 25 spectators per team allowed at court 3 while court 1 and 2 are limited to 20 per team, both of these do not include coaches or scorers. Saturday fixtures will be played outdoors, with court 3 allowed 25 per team spectators while court 1 and 4 have to observe physical distancing by all spectators not in the same family.
