East Narrogin Primary School students display ‘excellent sportsmanship’ during athletics carnival

East Narrogin Primary School students demonstrated “excellent sportsmanship” during their athletics carnival earlier this month. The students split up into their three factions to compete in a range of events including sprints, leader ball, flag races and tunnel ball at Thomas Hogg Oval on September 1. Marri faction claimed the first prize, with Wandoo in second place and Jarrah third. The Year 1 champion boy was De’andrew Drage, Year 2 was Anthony Jackson, Year 3 was Byron Keegan-Rowe, Year 4 was James Wakefield, Year 5 was Ashley Erkelens and Year 6 was Jack Mathews. The Year 1 champion girl was claimed by Ashlyn Furphy, Year 2 was Khaleesi Terry, Year 3 was Abigail Villahermosa, Year 4 was Piper Franks, Year 5 was Christine Drage and Year 6 was Emma Furphy. East Narrogin PS deputy principal Joanna Hayes deemed the carnival a great success. “It was a great atmosphere and the students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the day,” she said. “I was great to see our parents and carers supporting our school and volunteering in the canteen. “Thanks to our physical education teacher Johan van Wyk for organising a successful carnival.”
