Cuballing artist Peter Denton brings Wild Scenes and Wild Places exhibition to Narrogin

After a launching a week ago at Chedoona Galley in Cuballing, local artist Peter Denton has bought his Wild Scenes and Wild Places exhibition to Narrogin. Hung at the Arts Narrogin Gallery on the corner of Park and Fairway Street, the second leg of the Wild Scenes and Wild Places exhibition was opened to the public on May 9. “There are a few new pieces among it all, it’s not exactly the same exhibition,” Denton said on Tuesday. “I threw them all in the back of the ute and brought them in this morning.” The self-taught artist’s pieces are arranged by medium and subject. Dramatic animal portraits and landscapes sweep around the space. The exhibition will be open at Arts Narrogin Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and conclude on June 1. Denton creates most of his pieces from memory and creativity, a process that engages him with the works in a unique way. “Each painting I do — you become so emotionally connected to them that it can be hard to give them away,” Denton said. “You can’t hang on to them all or you’ll end up with a house full, it’s not about money, you’ve got to sell a painting to help pay for your gear, it’s more about someone liking a work enough to take it home.”
