Convincing victory to Wagin in Upper Great Southern Hockey Association women’s A-grade competition

Wagin recorded a comfortable victory in round six of the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association women’s A-grade competition on Saturday.

Coming up against All Blacks, Wagin prevailed 6-0 as Courtney Perkins, Courtney Robinson and Jessie Allington starred in the win.

Warriors were able to hang on to notch a close 3-2 victory over Williams in the other women’s A-grade game.

Chloe Buzza, Kira Flynn and Isabelle Kilpatrick were important in the win while Tracey Price, Rachel Harding and Alanna Ford tried hard to lift Williams to victory.

In the men’s A-grade competition a sole goal from Riffs helped them record a win over All Blacks.

Better players were Rohan Bilney, Dane Angwin and Brock Francis while Liam Sweeney, Connor Page and Sam Broad were solid for All Blacks.

Olympics defeated Lakers 3-1 in the other match with Shawn Heil, Nathan Squibb and Bradley Staphorst among the best, and Zac Hatfield, Angus Armstrong and Allan Blight battled hard for Lakers.

In the women’s B-grade Pingelly downed Robins 2-1 as Holly Blechynden, Kiesha Thompson and Claire Eva were pivotal in the win.

Wickepin finished comfortable 4-0 winners over All Blacks with Sarah Oats, Stacey Richards and Renae Bransby named in the best players for the victors.

Dumbleyung prevailed convincing 6-0 winners over Olympics.

In the men’s B-grade competition, the winners best served by Lachlan Ward, Joel Watkins and Dale Cronin.

Blake Warburton, Ryan Marwick and Tyrone Fulwood helped Pingelly defeat Riffs 5-2 while Williams finished 1-0 winners over All Blacks with Ben Kealey, Jeremy Dickson and Louis Payne strong contributors in the win.

Round four of the junior season was held at the weekend.

In the upper school competition Eagles defeated Woodanilling 8-1, Vultures downed Collegians 1-0 and Ag Rangers prevailed 2-1 over Toucans.

Woodanilling won 3-2 over Pumas in the middle school competition while Lions finished 2-0 winners over Cougars.

In the J11 division Dingoes defeated Bulldogs convincingly 8-0, Williams prevailed 2-0 winners over Brookton and Devils won 4-2 over Stingrays.
