Narrogin-born Australian cricket champion Brad Hogg will headline the Upper Great Southern Cricket Association’s T20 Slam event on Friday night. Hogg was born and raised on a farm in Williams before going on to become an international cricket star. The dual World Cup-winning leg spinner will booster the Old Dogs side as they look to make it a hat-trick of wins against the Young Guns in the marquee Twenty20 match. WA Premier Cricket star Iszak Milentis will be looking to guide the Young Guns to their first title in the third edition of the event. The game will be played at Clayton Road Oval, starting at 5.30pm. There are plenty of big names in both sides for the exciting exhibition match and while the Young Guns will back their attacking play and flair, the Old Dogs will look to their vast experience to prevail yet again. Dylan Kirk will captain the Young Guns while Rodney Ford leads the Old Dogs. Brian Evans, one of the event organisers, said it was great to have some big names involved. “Always adds to the occasion when you have player of Brad Hogg’s calibre playing,” he said. “It will be a challenge for the young fellas to face this quality of bowling. “Hopefully Brad will provide some good entertainment on field and will be mingling around the crowd.” Evans said there was already plenty of banter around between the two sides. “It’s an excellent opportunity for the young guns to redeem themselves after losing the last two,” he said. “Iszak Milentis is a big inclusion fresh from some good form with Willetton’s first grade side. “Captain Dylan Kirk also in very good form at all levels. “Plenty of talent right across the young side so they should go in as favourites. “But never write off the old dogs; older, wiser heads might just prevail. “There is definitely rivalry building around the game. “Plenty of chat from Dylan Kirk’s young guns, just need to see if they can convert their talking ability into match action.” WA Country Cricket Board chairman Rob Marshall will also play for the Old Dogs. The innings break will feature a little blasters match on the centre wicket and a running between the wickets competition in full batting kit will be held, with a nominated player representing each UGSCA club for the opportunity to win $250 cash. There will also be music and commentary throughout the event, and full bar and canteen facilities available.
