Kojonup duo Old Mervs earn prestigious national top APRA Award nomination for most performed rock work

Kojonup indie rock duo Old Mervs are in the national spotlight after securing a nomination at the 2026 APRA Music Awards. The APRA Music Awards recognise excellence in contemporary music, honouring songwriters and publishers across 18 categories. The two-piece Great Southern act has been recognised in the most performed rock work category for their track Everyone Will See It, placing them among some of Australia’s biggest names in music. Old Mervs are up against Defiant by Jimmy Barnes, Jerkin by Amyl and The Sniffers, Southerly by the Stingrays and Ocean Alley’s Tangerine, with the category recognising songs that have achieved strong streaming and public reach. Other WA representation in the awards is Spacey Jane’s song All the Noise which has been nominated for the most performed alternative work award , up against Car by Royel Otis, Dancing2 by Keli Holiday, Hideaway by Mallrat, and Please Don’t Move to Melbourne by Ball Park Music. Winners of the award will be determined through a combination of board selection, peer voting and most-performed works based on statistical analysis. As part of APRA’s centenary celebrations, this year’s ceremony is set to be the biggest yet hosted by presenter Julia Zemiro, with guest presenters Bernard Fanning, Jessica Mauboy, Mark Coles Smith and Stella Donnelly. This years ceremony will be held on April 29 at the Hordern Pavillion in Sydney where the Kojonup duo will look to take home one of the industry’s top honours.
