A stunning tree-top Ocean Beach build by WA Country Builders has been named Great Southern home of the year at the annual HIA Regional WA Housing Awards.
The region’s top builders were recognised at the annual awards on September 12, and a stunning Ocean Beach residence also earned WA Country Builders the custom built home of the year award.
Judges recognised the build’s thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship and strong connection to the home’s natural surroundings.
They said the home “seamlessly” blended contemporary living with “timeless” functionality.
HIA WA executive director Michael McGowan said the winning home demonstrated the high standard of residential design and construction being delivered across the region.

“The Great Southern has a unique combination of beautiful natural landscapes, diverse communities and challenging building environments, and this year’s winning homes demonstrate how local builders are responding to those opportunities with creativity and expertise,” he said.
“WA Country Builders’ Ocean Beach home is an outstanding example of a residence that works with its environment rather than simply sitting within it.
“It combines thoughtful design, quality construction, and exceptional liveability to create a home that is both beautiful and highly functional.”
WA Country Builders also took out three further awards with lightweight house of the year for a separate Ocean Beach home, project home up to $500,000 for a Bayonet Head house, and project home of the year for a farmhouse in Marbelup.
Home Group WA Great Southern also had a huge night out, claiming four awards including the excellence in service award, the Golden Key award for display home of the year, affordable housing of the year, and custom built home up to $500,000.
Mr McGowan said the diversity of award-winning projects highlighted the important role regional builders played in delivering housing that that met the needs of local communities.

“From custom homes and project homes to modular construction and display homes, the Great Southern awards showcase the incredible diversity of housing being delivered across the region,” he said.
“Importantly, these awards are not just about the finished homes.
“They recognise the builders, designers, tradespeople, and businesses behind them who are committed to delivering quality housing and creating the communities where Western Australians want to live.”
The regional winners will now progress to the Statewide awards, and will compete against the top contenders from both regional and metro areas.
