It’s the biggest day in US sport - and a West Aussie is at the centre of it.

Super Bowl LVIII gets underway on Monday morning WA time, and while there’ll be plenty of attention on Taylor Swift, half-time show performer Usher, and star Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, there’s also lots of WA eyes trained on local punting product Mitch Wishnowsky as he looks to contribute for San Francisco.

Follow all the live action below ahead of the 7.30am (WA time) game start, and don’t forget you can catch all the action on 7 and 7mate!

Wrapping up

That’s a wrap on our blog coverage from Vegas - but stay tuned to the site for Ben O’Shea’s expert analysis and plenty more fall-out from the epic game!

We’ll leave you with some wise words from Travis Kelce after he helped secure the victory...

Kelce up and about

And Travis Kelce is suitably amped for the post-game celebrations!

The tight end already has his sights set on a three-peat, and sings a portion of Viva Las Vegas up on stage (with a voice that is far inferior to his superstar partner).

He also shouts ‘You’ve got to fight for your right to party’ before embracing Taylor Swift after leaving the stage.

Credit to the defence

Chiefs coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes both praise the team’s defence for spearheading the win.

Mahomes also has a shot at any doubters after the Chiefs started as outsiders with bookmakers for not only this game, but their past three playoff games.

“Know that the Kansas City Chiefs are never underdogs. Know that.”

Mitch misses out on a ring

WA’s Mitch Wishnowsky falls agonisingly short of a championship, through no fault of his own.

He punted beautifully and can hold his head high... but can’t get the ring he so desperately wanted.

Three rings

It’s a THIRD Super Bowl success for Patrick Mahomes, who is very quickly climbing up the list of the greatest NFL careers of all time.

You’ve got to feel for San Francisco, who overcame injuries and had some unlucky moments as they tried to ice the game... but ultimately came up short.

Mahomes celebrates

Patrick Mahomes - who will undoubtedly be crowned Super Bowl MVP in a few minutes’ time - already has his sights set on a threepeat after that epic victory.

“We’re not done. We’ve got a young team, we’re gonna keep this thing going,” he says in the moments after going back-to-back.

It was a massive second half and overtime period from Mahomes and the Chiefs after they failed to score for virtually the entire first half and clung on for much of the contest.

CHIEFS WIN!

It’s a touchdown, and it’s over! Kansas City are the champs!

Mecole Hardman accepts the pass in the end zone after a clinical down-the field drive.

25-22 is your final score, and Chiefs fans everywhere - including Taylor Swift in the stands - are going nuts!

MAHOMES COOKING

Patrick Mahomes has put the Chiefs on his back and rushes his way to a big first down and more.

They’re in the red zone. The game’s in his hands. It appears inevitable at this point...
