Neale Daniher is being honoured at a state funeral service at the MCG following an inspirational life.

The Australian football great passed away last month at age 65, with his battle against what he termed ‘The Beast’ - motor neurone disease - capturing the hearts of the nation.

Daniher co-founded the FightMND charity and turned the annual King’s Birthday match into one of the country’s biggest fundraising events, with the Big Freeze helping raise money and awareness to take on the scourge of the disease.

The former Essendon defender and Melbourne coach will be remembered at the memorial, beginning at 11am WA time and taking place at the home of football just two days after the most recent Big Freeze.
