Wickepin shocked previously undefeated Boddington in Boddington on Saturday to lift the 2018/19 Upper Great Southern Cricket Association B-grade premiership shield.

The visitors couldn’t apply the scoreboard pressure they would’ve been hoping for, being bowled out for 98 at the start of the 33rd over.

Boddington’s opening bowlers Tom Pyke and Mitch Brown, the competition’s best all season, both struck early against the visitors, scalping Martin McLean (no score) and William Martin (four) respectively.

After an unbeaten century against Towns last weekend, David Wilson added 21 runs before being dismissed by John English.

English picked up five wickets, including Tyron Miller (18), and conceded only 12 from 7.1 overs.

Wickepin would have had little chance but for 32 not out by Michael Green.

Boddington managed a better start with the bat with English (five) and Chris Sjoberg (18) posting a 27-run opening partnership, before David Bennier claimed them both.

Bennier (4-11 off 8) and Brock Pockran (3-15 off 5) tore through Boddington’s middle order.

Shane Millar (16 not out) and Rocket Williams (15) did their best to reach the target.

Wickepin’s bowling attack had all the answers, bowling Boddington out in 33 overs for 73 runs.

Wilson, McLean and Green all took a wicket each for the premiers.
