Towns aim to bounce back
With football now a distant memory, Towns Cricket Club are gearing up for an exciting 2017/18 cricket season on and off the field.
New club president Peter Baker is confident that his first season in charge will be a success. “We have new additions to the side along with a string of returning players, and this season we will be working closely with the Narrogin junior cricket club to help with their transition into senior cricket,” he said.
“Off the field we’ll be hosting plenty of functions throughout the season, starting with the Halloween party on October 28, and we’re looking to get the local ladies involved by having a women’s game later this year as well as hosting our second ladies day after its success last season.”
After disappointing results last season earned them the wooden spoon, Towns are hoping to contest finals for the first time since their 2014/15 Upper Great Southern Cricket Association championship win.
Towns have their main training session on Fridays at 5.30pm at Clayton Road Oval but also have a smaller session on Wednesdays.
They will field A and B-grade teams this season.
