Shire of Narrogin to take control of Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre after nine years of YMCA WA management

The Shire of Narrogin has announced that it will take charge of operations at the Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre after reaching an agreement with YMCA WA. YMCA WA was first contracted by the shire to manage the leisure centre about nine years ago and the end of the arrangement comes as the second five-year contract granted to the group expires. A two-month transition period will take place and Shire of Narrogin chief executive Dale Stewart said that “all existing employees of the Narrogin Y WA will be offered continuity of employment”. Shire president Leigh Ballard thanked YMCA WA for its service and said the move marked a new beginning for the centre. “The Shire of Narrogin is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community and the Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre plays a pivotal role,” he said. “The shire is grateful for the valuable contributions made by the Y throughout the duration of the management agreement and both parties are committed to ensuring a seamless transition.” A project transition group formed by the shire in partnership with YMCA WA will now be put together to guide the integration of the leisure centre and Shire of Narrogin operations. “Our dedication at the Y remains unwavering as we collaborate closely with the Shire of Narrogin ensuring a smooth transition of services,” YMCA WA chief executive Tim McDonald said. “We consider it a privilege to have actively participated in the growth of the community for the last nine years.”
