Shire of Boddington cuts ribbon to mark opening of first community gym BoddFit

A good crowd gathered in Boddington at the weekend to mark the opening of the town’s first community gym, BoddFit, at the Old Pavilion on Club Drive. The refurbished indoor exercise facility will give the community all-hours access to high-quality equipment for unsupervised exercise. Shire president Garry Ventris was joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 17 by shire CEO Julie Burton and local Lotto agent Baljinder Sandhu. The gym was made possible through funding from Lotterywest. “The project’s completion is an exciting milestone for Boddington,” Cr Ventris said. “It provides the community easy access to a facility that promotes health and physical activity.” Before BoddFit, Boddington residents had to travel 75km to work out at the nearest gym in Pinjarra. The grand opening gave the community a chance to check out all the new gear, talk with shire staff and sign on as members. “BoddFit highlights our commitment to a healthier community,” Cr Ventris said. “I look forward to witnessing its positive impact.” Information on fees and membership is available on the Shire of Boddington website.
