Petrol bomb starts garden fire
Narrogin police are investigating a garden fire started by a Molotov cocktail thrown at an Earl Street property last Thursday night.
No one was hurt and police have not identified any threat to the public after forensically examining a bottle with a rag stuffed in it found at the property.
Narrogin resident Desiree Schulz contacted police to alert them of the fire just after 8pm.
“We were coming down Earl Street and my son said ‘mum that front yard is on fire’, so we turned around, came back and yep, the front yard was on fire,” she said.
“I said to my son, ‘look there’s a beer bottle on the ground’, we looked at it and he said it was a Molotov cocktail bomb.
“Whoever it was disconnected the hose taps, they’d taken the hose fittings and just left the hose there.”
Police arrived at the Earl Street property at about 8:15pm, extinguishing the blaze with the help of Ms Schulz’s son before Narrogin VFRS arrived on the scene.
DFES confirmed they were called to a “petrol bomb” incident, with one Narrogin VFRS utility arriving at the property at 8:14pm.
