Milentis ready for nationals
Narrogin’s Iszak Milentis will make his debut for WA as vice-captain of the State’s under-19 side at the national championships starting in Adelaide on Monday.
The former Narrogin junior and Towns Cricket Club batsman moved to Perth in Year 10 to attend Aquinas College.
He also represented the Upper Great Southern Cricket Association in early 2017.
“I think obviously it (Cricket Australia U19 Championship) will be very strong, there’s a lot of good cricketers around,” he said.
“Playing first-grade cricket here should hopefully help me out a bit to get to the standard of competition.”
WACA talent development manager David Fitzgerald said the Cricket Australia U19 Championship would be a great opportunity for Milentis. “Iszak is an exciting opening batsman who’s done well with Willetton in premier comp here in Perth,” he said.
“He’s got a good range of shots and we’re looking for him to take those good starts he’s been having with Willetton over to Adelaide.
“It’s highly competitive, players that come out of this competition get selected in the Australian under-19 team.”
The Cricket Australia U19 Championships in Adelaide will be from December 3 to December 13.
