The Narrogin and Districts Green Shoots Choir, led by Viviane Knight, entertained the community at their first public performance on Saturday. The choir composed of singers from Narrogin, Wagin, Cuballing and Wickepin was joined by the Williams Local Vocals choir, led by Emma Everett. Local musicians also featured in the Saturday night spectacular with Robin Newman performing on piano and Kay Weaver and Jan Smith performing poetry and crowd pleaser Is This the Way to Amarillo. The choirs sang a variety of tunes from contemporary songs and classics such as I’m a Believer to moving traditional works like the Jewish farewell song Shalom Chaverim. Towards the end of the evening the audience were invited to join the choir in singing a sea shanty, filling the NEXIS exhibition space on Federal Street with the sound of more than 100 voices.
