High-jumping hero simply a big softie

Laura GrubisaNarrogin Observer

A dog from Cuballing has taken home top honours in the dog high-jump event at the Kojonup Show after clearing a height of 2.4m.

A three-year-old kelpie named Smudge jumped half a metre higher than her second-placed competitor to take first place with help from her owner Scott Franz.

The event was sponsored by Elders Kojonup and had seven dogs competing for a grand prize of delicious dog biscuits.

Franz said his kelpie was very willing to please.

“She wants to do anything I ask of her,” he said.
