Ex-Bomber Jetta lands back home
Former Essendon forward Leroy Jetta will return home to Brookton-Pingelly Football Club in the Upper Great Southern Football League this year.
Jetta, who played 93 games for the Bombers in the AFL, is the headline recruit so far for the 2019 UGSFL season
Jetta was drafted to Windy Hill in 2006 with pick 18, playing in the red and black until 2014.
Since then, he has lined up with Peel Thunder in the WAFL and won the 2018 Peel Football and Netball League premiership with Pinjarra.
Jetta is not the only inclusion for the Panthers this year.
The club has been on a recruiting frenzy in the off-season, which president Tony Kirk hopes will foster young talent coming through the grades.
Former Peel Thunder reserves player Matthew Dean will join Jetta for 2019 along with PFNL’s Zachary Beckman and Avon Football Association’s Troy Bassett.
Katanning have taken further blows to their hopes of avenging their shock grand final defeat to Boddington.
After losing star brothers Tim and Kade Stewart, along with club stalwart Tim Fitzgerald, 2018 grand finalist Laurence Collard has been transferred to the PNFL, while Jacob Wintle departs to the South West Football league.
Wanderers youngster Corey Sellars will try his luck with South Fremantle in 2019.
Premiership players in the UGSFL last year George Wessels and Jarrod Salmeri will also be aiming for a debut with the Bulldogs’ colts side in 2019, leaving spots available in Boddington’s league side.
The Premiers, however, will be boosted by the arrival of Jaymen Hutton, from the SWFL, and Tasmanian Ryan Smith.
