A 40-year-old man was killed when the truck he was driving rolled down an embankment in Piesseville on Monday. The Hino truck was travelling south on the Great Southern Highway near the intersection of Piesseville-Jaloran Road, when it left the road and went down a slight embankment before rolling over. The crash happened just before 8am on Monday. The driver, from Coogee, died at the scene. His 25-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Perth by the RAC rescue helicopter with serious injuries. He was in a stable condition at Royal Perth Hospital. The Great Southern Highway northbound lane was closed and a 40km/h speed limit was put in place with all drivers urged to take caution around the area. Main Roads confirmed the crash was cleared about 7pm Monday with all lanes reopened. St John Ambulance volunteers from Wagin attended the scene along with the Wagin Volunteer Fire Rescue Service and police. Major crash investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or the Hino truck travelling in the area prior to the crash.
