Custom Narrogin edition of Monopoly board game set to be released before Christmas, bids open for businesses
Details regarding Narrogin’s Monopoly legacy project have been revealed, with local businesses and community members invited to bid on which well-known sites should be featured in the town’s unique edition.
Partnering with Hasbro, the Shire of Narrogin announced the launch of the custom Narrogin Monopoly edition last week, which is set to feature the shire’s hotspots and heritage plots as a tangible keepsake that captures the region’s character and diversity.
The entirely customised version of the famous game will feature local business categories, community-themed cards, and key Narrogin and Dryandra attractions.
The project will be released in two stages, with the first focusing on community, business engagement, and fundraising as the shire decides what will make an appearance on the board.
An online silent auction will go live from March 6, and conclude with a Monopoly: Shire of Narrogin Edition Silent Auction Dinner at John Higgins Centre on March 20.
Local businesses are invited to compete for board spaces within defined categories, while community groups, businesses and organisations may participate through Community Chest and Chance card sponsorships.
Bidding will be managed through the GalaBid platform, enabling online and in-person participation, and higher bids will unlock additional sponsorship benefits and priority placement.
Local businesses have already expressed strong interest through the Narrogin Chamber of Commerce.
The game’s second release stage will involve the finalisation of artwork, design approvals and production, with an initial 1500 Narrogin Monopoly games to be completed by October.
The Shire of Narrogin expects the customised game to be ready for distribution ahead of Christmas.
Shire president Leigh Ballard said the Monopoly: Shire of Narrogin Edition project was a bold and exciting way to showcase the town’s local businesses and community pride.
“This is a chance for our businesses to step on to a national icon and put Narrogin on the board in a truly unique way,” he said.
“Monopoly: Shire of Narrogin Edition is about celebrating who we are, supporting each other, and creating something the whole community can be proud of.
“It’s your business, your town, your move, and we’re inviting our local businesses and community groups to be part of it.”
