Cuballing 1 held off Olympics Gold in round seven of the Narrogin and Districts Netball A1 competition competition on Saturday.

A blistering start in the opening quarter set the tone for the winners with Olympics unable to recover from that point as Cuballing held on for a gritty 48-40 triumph at the final whistle.

Both teams came out with attacking drive, displaying clean passages of netball but Cuballing had capitalised in the opening quarter with a 16-9 lead.

Cuballing’s shooting circle dominated with Regina Kickett and Telisha Kickett making the most of the circle-edge feeds from dynamic mid-court duo Keely Kickett and Chante Kickett.

The second period saw Olympic answer with great defensive pressure from Whitney Watkins and Kelsey-Paige Gurney.

A heavily contested quarter with high defensive pressure from both teams caused several unforced errors but Olympics were gaining the ascendancy, nailing 11 goals to Cuballing’s 10.

Olympics’ shooting combination of Claudia Rourke and Lili Palumbo worked hard in the third quarter to edge out their opposition 10 goals to nine for the quarter.

At three-quarter-time, a rotation in the Cuballing shooting circle and some great defensive plays from Taya Olman and Mia Slawinski helped Cuballing finish strongly, making the most of Olympics’ turnovers and scoring 13-10 in the final period.

Cuballing finishing 48-40 winners in the end.

In the other A1 fixtures, Pingelly defeated Wickepin 1, 60-28, and Williams 1 edged out Wagin 1, 55-52.
