Community members interested in becoming involved in local government are invited to attend an election candidate information briefing webinar on August 14. Hosted by the Western Australian Local Government Association, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the WA Electoral Commission, the sessions will feature a range of presenters including Minister for Local Government David Michael. Topics will cover the importance and purpose of local government in WA, the role of councillors, and why it is important for community members to become councillors. Participants will be able to ask questions of representatives and information will be provided to prospective candidates on the electoral process and key dates to be aware of in the lead-up to the elections that will take place later this year. The webinar will begin at 6pm on Monday, August 14 and registration forms for the online event can be found on the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries website.
