Chadwick’s forty years of Narrogin netball recognised

Narrogin’s Vicki Chadwick was one of three recipients across the State awarded the inaugural Netball WA Service to Sport Award at RAC Arena last month. A life member and the current umpire development officer at Narrogin and Districts Netball Association, she was honoured for 40 years of service to netball in the region. “I was just completely surprised,” she said. “It was very lovely of the association to nominate me. Lee (NDNA president Lee Conlan) got me there under false pretences. “I just thought I was coming as a guest, and then when they started out reading out the spiel on the winner, I just thought, ‘Oh, gosh. That’s me’,” Ms Chadwick said she felt honoured and grateful. “I just do it for the love for the sport and the love of the camaraderie that comes with being a netballer.” After years of playing, coaching, umpiring and serving in administrative roles — including as NDNA president — Ms Chadwick is a life member and valued mentor within the association. She said netball in Narrogin had grown considerably over the decades. “For a small association in a regional area, I think we do pretty darn good,” she said. “Netball in Narrogin has grown a heck of a lot. “There are so many more juniors and I think it’s really developed and evolved completely in a really positive way.”
