A bushfire watch and act has been downgraded to advice for parts of West Pingelly as the fire is now contained.

The fire was moving in a north-westerly direction and some roads may be closed.

The advice is in place for the area west of the townsite bound by Page Road, North Wandering Road and North-Bannister Pingelly Road.

There is no threat to lives and properties and there is a lot of smoke in the area.

People within the area are urged to leave if they are not prepared or are planning to leave.

The fire was reported at 11.28am and is being managed by the Shire of Pingelly.

It started near the intersection of Naylor Street and North Bannister-Pingelly Road.

Motorists are asked to reduce their speed and drive carefully due to smoke in the area.

Residents are asked to close any doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners.
