Beverley bushfire: Emergency services actively fighting blaze on Great Southern Highway, 17 units responding

Two water bombers are on their way to a serious blaze in Beverley, where people have been told to leave the area or prepare to defend their homes. Emergency services are responding to a bushfire near Great Southern Highway and Caudle Road in Beverley, reported at 1.02pm on Wednesday. Two water bombers have been dispatched to assist the firefighters actively fighting the fire, with 17 appliances from Beverley, York, and Brookton Volunteer Fire Rescue Services on the scene. The fire is burning on the eastern side of Great Southern Highway and moving in a south-easterly direction. People in Beverley and Kokeby have been told to leave the area or prepare to defend their homes after the Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued a watch and act warning at 2.14pm on Wednesday. The watch and act warning covers the area bounded by Caudle Road, Bremner Road, Kokeby East Road, and Great Southern Highway in Beverley and Kokeby. A bushfire advice alert is also in place for the area east of Bremner Road and south of Kokeby East Road, bounded by Morbinning Road, Bally Bally Road, Yenyening Lakes Road and Great Southern Highway. No roads have been closed but motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed, and drive carefully.
