Half-centuries from experienced pair Perrin Quartermaine and Kendal Ballard guided Towns to a crushing seven-wicket win over Williams on Saturday afternoon.

Towns went into the clash one win ahead of Williams on the ladder after their impressive triumph over Dumbleyung last weekend.

Chasing 202 for victory, Towns were always in control of the chase as Quartermaine and Ballard showed their class.

Ballard finished unbeaten on 69 and Quartermaine made 66 before he was trapped lbw by Brock Titko.

That along with contributions from Peter Kirby (26) and Liam Sweeney (25) guided Towns to a comfortable win, passing the target in 36 overs.

Titko was Williams’ best bowler with 2-47 off eight overs.

Williams batted first, with open Titko and Robert Rose sharing in a 69-run opening partnership before Titko was caught on 44.

Former Country XI captain Rodney Ford joined Rose and they helped their side press towards a big total, adding 91 before Ford fell on 48.

Rose kept going to help Williams race past 180.

Rose was dismissed just 20 runs short of a century but his brilliant innings helped his side post 4-201 off 39 overs.

Max Evans was the only multiple wicket-taker for Towns.
