Busy preparation for Narrogin Art Group’s Friday Artists ahead of June exhibition space NEXIS

The Narrogin Art Group’s Friday Artists have been busy preparing for an upcoming group exhibition to be shown at Arts Narrogin’s exhibition space NEXIS in June. The collective met on Friday at the group’s building on Elliot Street to work on their art and plan the show. “We’ve just been having a discussion this morning as to whether we will put our work up in individual groups or mix it up with different colours and styles,” Evelyn White said. “Individually we do quite different kinds of work and showing it mixed will be interesting.” Ms White said the group’s dozen members are looking forward to sharing their work with the community. “The most beautiful thing here is that everyone shares, we have artists like Peter Denton and Angela who are always willing to teach and share even though they’re painting themselves,” she said. “Everyone here shares what they can do, right down to sharing recipes.” Founded in 1966, Narrogin Art Group creatives work across many mediums including textiles, pottery, paper-craft and sculpture, however the upcoming exhibition will focus on painting. “It’s really just the Friday Artists, the painters that come along on the Friday, that’s what we wanted to do,” treasurer Lynne Dorset said. “It’s to show people what the group does and also hopefully to attract more members. “There will be a huge variety, we all do different stuff in different mediums.” The exhibition will be officially opened on June 10 by Les and Sue Riley, two of the five original members of the Narrogin Art Group. The Friday Artists exhibition will be on show at NEXIS from 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Saturday and run until July 1. The exhibition opening will be held at NEXIS from 2pm to 4pm on June 10 and anyone that would like to attend is invited to send an RSVP to admin@artsnarrogin.com.au.
