Act Belong Commit Willams Gateway Expo set to explode with country culture in Wheatbelt South

Williams is gearing up for a major celebration of sheep, country and community this month with the 23rd annual Williams Gateway Expo set to delight and excite the Wheatbelt South. What started out as a sheep show has ballooned in size to become Williams’ premier yearly event and expo stalwart Ann Rintoul said that while sheep remain front and centre they will share the spotlight on April 13 with community, connection and fun. “The Act Belong Commit Williams Expo is an opportunity for the local and wider communities to come together for a great family day with minimal costs,” she said. “People can partake in things that interest them . . . huge acknowledgement to the sponsors who have generously supported the event. Annual events including shearing competitions and the popular Woolshed Fashion Parade remain prime attractions, and about 40 food and market stalls will transform the Williams Sports Pavilion into a feast for wanderers. Things With Wheels, a grand display of vintage cars, farm machinery, bikes and stationary motors, is another draw this year and hometown-hero Australian cricket legend Brad Hogg will be on deck for a Q and A session and to provide a junior cricket coaching clinic. The expo promotes healthy activity and engagement and a climbing wall, a bucking bull, laser tag and a giant sand pit will keep kids on the go. Live music will feature throughout the day and a Fireworks Finale Bonanza will light things up at 7pm. A gold coin donation will get expo-goers into the action at the Williams Sports Pavilion off Albany Highway from 10am.
