Shawn Rissetto: Man arrested after allegedly performing nazi gesture, committing obscene act in Victoria Park

A man is behind bars after allegedly performing a nazi gesture and “committing an obscene act” in Perth’s eastern suburbs. Shawn Tony Rissetto, 42, is accused of approaching a member of the public — while holding a canister — before threatening them and making a nazi gesture on Leonard Street in Victoria Park about 3.25pm on Sunday. He is also accused of committing an obscene act in public. “Police responded quickly, attending the area and placing the man under arrest,” a police spokesperson said. Mr Rissetto was charged with making a nazi gesture, threatening to kill, being armed in a way that may cause fear and obscene acts in public. The Victoria Park resident fronted Perth Magistrates Court on Monday and was remanded in custody. Bail was not considered. He will return to court on February 16 for a bail application. A police spokesperson said WA Police had “zero tolerance” towards alleged anti-Semitism. “Police will continue to take firm action against any individual or group who (allegedly) incites hatred or division through public displays of extremist ideology,” the spokesperson said.
