Lotto Scratch’n’Win: Mt Barker mum scores $50,000 from $3 ticket at local newsagency

A $3 scratchie has turned into a $50,000 win for a Mt Barker mum, after a ticket she bought from Mt Barker Newsagency won the top prize this week.

A local woman said she had to double check the Scratch’n’Win ticket because she couldn’t believe she had won.

“I’d love to buy a new car that can fit all our bikes so we can do more trips to the beach and the bush as a family,” she said.

“I’ll also treat the kids next school holidays.

“It will be amazing to give them some money to spend on anything they like — that doesn’t happen very often.

“Anything leftover I’ll be saving towards a home deposit as I’d love to buy my own place one day.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said this week’s winner from the Great Southern was one of 30 people to clinch Scratch’n’Win top prizes so far this year.

“We’ve seen 30 Scratch’n’Win top prizes celebrated across WA so far this year, including seven in regional communities all the way from Albany to Geraldton,” she said.

“It’s always exciting to see a win in regional WA, and it’s wonderful to think this Mt Barker family will be able to enjoy more adventures together, exploring the beaches and bushland that make the Great Southern so special.”

All available profit from every Lotterywest ticket sold around WA goes back into the community, with a recent Lotterywest grant of $860,012 supporting the redevelopment of Mt Barker’s Wilson Park to transform the site into a family-friendly recreation precinct.

On Tuesday night, a WA lotto ticket also matched the numbers for a million-dollar Division One Millionaire Medley prize, with the ticket sold by Kingsway City Lottery Centre in Wanneroo.
