I love the sounds of Albany.

The parrots when they swoop, settle then chatter.

The “wooft” of the air under the winds of the ibis and pelicans as they fly overhead.

The “hoot, hoot” of the bronze wing pigeons; the cackle of wattle birds as they greet the day.

The grumble of the ringtail possums if you disturb their nocturnal nibbling.

The joyous barking of dogs at the dog park.

The rhythm of the chugging trains, the ringing of the warning bell at the crossing, the sounding of the horn . . . no matter what time of day or night, the “blaaart” of the cruise liner warning recalcitrant passengers of imminent departure.

The whip and roar of the wind when it gets up and the sound of rain on my tin roof.

The ringing of the town hall bell to signal the hour, the church bells nearby calling to all on Sunday.

All glorious.
