Emergency services free elderly woman who was left trapped in wreckage following Mt Lindesay road crash

Two elderly women have escaped serious injury after emergency services rushed to a road crash on Denmark-Mt Barker Road, with one of the women left trapped in her vehicle following the collision. Emergency services were called to the crash on Denmark-Mt Barker Road near Mt Lindesay, in the Shire of Denmark, at about 1.20pm on Monday afternoon, with a woman in her 70s trapped in the wreckage of her car after it collided with an RV. Multiple ambulance crews were sent to the scene, as well as Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews from Denmark Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service. A St John WA spokesperson said emergency services initially considered calling in the RAC Rescue Helicopter to transport the woman to hospital after she had been freed, however DFES confirmed the chopper was never deployed and was called off once crews arrived on scene. The spokesperson said the two occupants of the RV managed to escape the wreckage without injury and were already out of their vehicle when ambulance crews arrived. The woman in her 70s remained trapped in the wreckage at 2pm, with DFES crews from Denmark Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service on the scene working to free her. The woman was freed and taken by St John WA to Albany Health Campus to treat her leg injuries, under normal road conditions, arriving just after 3pm. A second woman, also in her 70s, was also taken normal road to Albany Health Campus for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, arriving at about 3.30pm.
