Albany’s sporting greats will be recognised for their achievements and local connections, with five inaugural members set to join the city’s new Sporting Walk of Fame on Thursday.
The official induction ceremony will be held at Retravision Stadium as part of the City of Albany’s bicentenary commemorations.
The new installation located in front of the stadium will celebrate the athletes, coaches and officials who have made their mark on sport while maintaining a connection to Albany.
Each inductee will have their own sign featuring a QR code, allowing visitors to scan and learn more about their personal story and sporting achievements.
The Sporting Walk of Fame aims to recognise the contribution of local sporting figures and highlight the role Albany has played in their journeys to the highest levels of competition.

Inductees were selected by a panel which assessed nominations against several criteria.
To be eligible, nominees must have been retired from elite competition for at least two years and have had a tangible connection to Albany throughout their development before progressing to the highest level of competition available in their sport.
The inaugural inductees will form the first group recognised through the installation, creating a lasting tribute to Albany’s sporting history and the people who have helped shape it.
City of Albany mayor Greg Stocks said it was a proud moment to be able to acknowledge the legacy these athletes have created in the community.
“Sport is deeply woven into Albany’s story, and the Walk of Fame celebrates not only the athletes who have reached the highest levels, but also the support they have received along the way,” he said.
“We’re also proud to acknowledge the inaugural inductees into the Sporting Walk of Fame, recognising their outstanding achievements and the last legacy they have created for our community.
“Their stories are an important part of Albany’s sporting history and deserve to be celebrated.”
