AAT Kings is offering a more immersive way to explore New Zealand by putting local encounters at the heart of two new South Island itineraries for its 2027/28 season.

The new South Island Splendour and South Island Highlights small-group tours combine some of the country’s best-known landscapes with experiences designed to take travellers a little deeper.

Guests can meet local farming families at Real Country and spend a night aboard the Milford Mariner in Piopiotahi (Milford Sound), waking surrounded by the mountains and still waters.

There’s also a new conservation experience at the Oamaru Penguins conservation centre, offering a behind-the-scenes look at efforts to protect New Zealand’s little blue penguins.

The additions are part of AAT Kings’ expanded 2027/28 program, which puts greater emphasis on smaller groups, local stories and experiences beyond traditional sightseeing.

To mark the launch, AAT Kings is offering savings of up to $2200 per couple on selected tours booked by September 30, 2026, for selected travel between April 1, 2027 and March 31, 2028.
