Wonthella’s mixed threes on Sunday, sponsored by club members Paddy and Judy Cream and Joe and June Beaver, attracted a bumper field.

Sandra Brown, Hugh Levett and Tony Kupsch won, just ahead of Angie Stagg, Kelvin Pearce and Di Knight.

Third spot went to Pia Oliveri, Joan Foster and Ernie Ainsworth.

Judy Cream bowled well with her side of Garry Cripps and Geoff Duncan.

Denison held the 52nd running of the Kailis weekend carnival, with 28 sides converging on the portside venue.

Kellerberrin Bowling Club took the top prize with five wins, 15 points and +48 shots from six matches over the two days.

Weather conditions were extreme, with the mercury climbing well past 40 degrees both days.

Despite the discomfort on the greens, a high standard of play was achieved and organisers were full of praise for the 112 players competing.

The shots-up margin was decisive.

The second-placed side from Jurien Bay finished level with the winners on matches won but with an inferior 29 shots (15 points plus 19).

Sides from Denison, Jurien and Doubleview made up the rest of the top five.

There were sides from throughout WA, including the metro area, Carnarvon, Geraldton and the Mid West, and as far inland as Kellerberrin.

Geraldton will be running their second twilight drawn pairs event on Sunday at 3pm.
