The San Francisco 49ers are one step away from their second Super Bowl appearance in three NFL seasons after Robbie Gould iced a 45-yard field goal as time expired to seal a 13-10 upset of Green Bay.

The 49ers will face either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Los Angeles Rams in next week's NFC title game after Gould kept his perfect record, now making all 20 of his career playoff field-goal attempts.

Earlier on Saturday, Cincinnati reached their first AFC championship game in 33 years after rookie Evan McPherson kicked a 52-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the fourth-seeded Bengals past the top-seeded Tennessee Titans 19-16.

It marked the first time both No.1 seeds lost in the divisional round in the same season since 2010.

In their NFC divisional round playoff game, Talanoa Hufanga scored the lone San Francisco touchdown on a blocked punt return as the sixth-seeded 49ers stunned the top-seeded Packers in frigid conditions.

Gould's kick then knocked off the Packers and possibly ended Aaron Rodgers' tenure in Green Bay.

"I always trust Robbie. He's as good as gold, man," Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said.

The 49ers continued their post-season hex on Rodgers who went 19 of 25 for 221 yards and dropped to 0-4 in career play-off match-ups against the 49ers.

The Packers earned the NFC's top seed for a second straight season but again failed to reach the big game as the 49ers rallied by scoring 10 unanswered points in the final five minutes.

San Francisco tied the game with 4min:41sec left thanks to a breakdown by Green Bay's special teams, the Packers' biggest weakness all season.

Jordan Willis' outstretched left hand blocked a punt by Corey Bojorquez, Hufanga pounced at the six-yard line and ran it in to make it 10-10 before Gould sealed the result.

Meanwhile, the Bengals ended the NFL's longest active road play-off skid with their stunning win after McPherson's heroics.

"He's got ice in his veins," Cincinnati coach Zac Taylor said of McPherson.

A week after snapping a 31-year play-off victory drought, the Bengals finally won their first road game in the post-season after losing their first seven.

Cincinnati will play in the AFC championship game next weekend at the winner of the Buffalo-Kansas City match-up in the AFC divisional round game on Sunday.

The Titans wrapped up their 25th season in Tennessee with their third-straight loss on their own field coming in as the AFC's No.1 seed.
